Tragedy in Melicucco, in the province of Reggio Calabria, three dead and three injured in a road accident involving several vehicles

MELICUCCO (REGGIO CALABRIA) – Blood on the roads of Calabria, three people died and three (not two as initially thought) were injured in a head-on collision between two cars on the Ionian-Tyrrhenian state road in the municipality of Melicucco in the province of Reggio Calabria.

The road accident involved two cars, an Alfa Romeo Giulietta and a BMW. Those who lost their lives were the driver of one of the two cars (the Alfa Romeo Giulietta), Domenico Politi 39 years old from Cittanova, a woman, Antonella Teramo 36 years old and a 4 year old girl who died after hospitalization (and not as initially believed to be two women and a little girl).

The woman and the little girl were originally from San Calogero nel Vibonese. The three injured who are in very serious conditions are Domenico Teramo, 32, brother of the deceased woman, her partner Valentina Crudo, 30, and the other girl traveling aboard the BMW.

The road accident, according to the first reconstructions, would have occurred in the afternoon at the Melicucco junction. The two injured were transported to the Polistena hospital.

According to the reconstructions of the first responders, the collision between the two vehicles would have occurred a few meters from the junction for Melicucco. Other vehicles were involved in the accident but with minor consequences.

A few Suem 118 ambulances and air ambulances attended the scene. Also present were the carabinieri and Polstrada agents who took care of the findings necessary to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident.
