This morning, the Bagno di Romagna Police Subsection withdrew the license of an 86-year-old man caught driving a TIR along the SS 3 BIS Tiberina at the height of Verghereto, where he was going to load timber. The Highway Code, however, allows driving beasts of the road up to 68 years of age.

The man, originally from Bagno di Romagna, knew this very well and, in order not to show his driving activity, he had also placed a magnet on the truck’s gearbox bulb, to send the vehicle’s tachograph into haywire, a black box that records the driver’s driving and rest times.

The crafty man, for whom his license was withdrawn and penalties for almost 2,000 euros, had to call a younger colleague to bring the vehicle back to the company, which was subjected to administrative detention for a month.
