The autopsy found several polytraumas on the child’s body that do not coincide with the parent’s version, who had attributed the illness to a fall from a slide. The woman was in fact arrested because according to the investigators Marcus’ death was due to “a voluntary action, probably as a result of a fall from a height inside an apartment building”.

The ambulance arrived with sirens blaring a few minutes later. But when the sanitary ware entered the house, the little one was already in desperate conditions. A doctor tried to perform CPR, after which the little one was loaded into an ambulance and transported to hospital. For him, however, it was already too late: he died on the way.

In the hours following the events, the prosecutor Giuseppe Rizzo ordered an autopsy on the little body to try to understand the reasons for such a senseless tragedy.

Mom arrested
According to what was reported by the mother, the illness of the little one would have come following a fall from a slide which took place a few hours earlier in a playground in Tirrenia (Pisa). The autopsy examination, however, shed light on the dynamics of the facts, denying the woman’s version.

According to the investigators, in fact, the death of the child, who had numerous multiple traumas, was due to “a voluntary action, probably as a result of a fall from a height inside an apartment building”.

What was told by the mother, in fact, was considered “lack of any logical basis and in conflict with the data that emerged from the investigations”. The body of the child, reads the note from the Police Headquarters, had “very serious injuries that would have prevented him from moving independently”.

Pre-trial detention in prison was thus arranged for the woman. She is a serious suspect in premeditated murder.

The child would have fallen from a height for “voluntary action”
According to the reconstruction of the woman’s movements on the day of the tragedy, the 38-year-old was seen entering an apartment building in the Borgo Cappuccini area in Livorno in the afternoon, leaving it with the child in her arms, probably already dead, after more than 11 hours.

Investigators speculate that the child was the victim of a fall from a height. A fall that is thought not to have been accidental, but rather the result of a push. In order to have any confirmations, it will be necessary to wait for the results of the forensic police investigations on the presumably biological findings seized by the investigators inside the condominium.

At the end of a holiday period spent with her, the mother should have brought little Marcus back to the child’s father, his sole custodian, the very day when the little one was killed”.

During the civil proceeding, which took place in the court of Turin, the place where the child lived as well as his parents, “the suspect’s personality disorders emerged, which the investigating judge considered dangerous and in relation to whom he recognized, in addition to the danger of fleeing, also the risk of repeating the offences”.

The woman is currently in the “Don Bosco” prison in Pisa, at the disposal of the judicial authorities. The guarantee interrogation will be held in the next few days.
