He was watching a fireworks display in the company of other people at the end of the patronal feast when, due to causes under investigation, he was run over and killed by a passing train. It happened during the night in Amantea, in Calabria.

The victim is a 27 year old and the fact happened in the Campora San Giovanni-Serra Ajello railway station.
According to an initial reconstruction, the young man was on site in the company of other people to watch the fireworks display at the end of the celebrations in honor of San Francesco di Paola organized in the hamlet of Campora. The place where the event took place is the disused station of Campora San Giovanni, a hamlet of Amantea, located a short distance from the beach where the fireworks were lit.

The 27-year-old would have sat on the platform and would not have noticed the arrival of the train coming at high speed from Reggio Calabria and about to stop at the Amantea station, a few kilometers further north. The convoy hit him, leaving him no way out. Emergency services arrived at the scene and could only confirm his death.

He was also present with staff from the Lamezia Terme railway police station who proceeded with the investigations. The victim, born in Como but residing in Amantea, had taken part in the final evening of the celebrations for the patron saint of Calabria which had previously seen the performance in the central square of Campora by the singer Adriano Pappalardo.
