As part of a ‘High Impact’ operation, the State Police in Rome Termini station arrested three people, all accused of theft. One carried out a theft of clothing in a shop in the Roman airport, while two others robbed a passenger of his backpack.

Three arrests were made by the police
The outcome of the operation, carried out yesterday, led to 3 arrests and 1109 people checked in the railway yards involved. Activities carried out by the Police and promoted by the Rome Police Headquarters and focused on strengthening extraordinary control activities in the area of the Rome Termini railway station and surrounding areas. In the Rome Termini airport, the men of the Judicial Police Team of the Lazio Polfer Compartment arrested an Italian citizen responsible for the crime of theft of some items of clothing.

A man was caught just as he was trying to steal clothes
The Railway Police officers, during the usual anti-pickpocketing service, noticed a man with a backpack on his shoulders who, pretending to be a tourist, was wandering suspiciously near a well-known business in the Roman railway station and became suspicious of his attitude. they followed his movements. In fact, after having removed several items of clothing, he entered a dressing room from where he emerged with only his backpack on his shoulders. The officers, after having verified that the goods taken shortly before were not inside the dressing room, chased the man along Via Giolitti and, after blocking him, verified that the items were all in the backpack wrapped in tinfoil (technique used to prevent the anti-shoplifting alarm from being activated) and therefore they arrested him. The stolen goods were returned intact to the manager of the business.

Two of them stole the backpack of an English traveller
On the same day, the same officers of the Judicial Police Team of the Lazio Polfer Compartment arrested two foreign citizens responsible, jointly, for the crime of aggravated theft of a backpack owned by an English traveller. During the stop of a convoy at the Rome Termini airport, the police noticed two men wandering among the crowd of travelers and, after identifying the victim, took possession of a black backpack, taking advantage of the confusion created during the boarding of the passengers on the train.

The fact did not escape the watchful eye of the officers who, after blocking the men and recovering the stolen goods, returned it to its rightful owner, arresting the subjects for the crime of aggravated theft.
