The touching words of Matteo Plicchi, father of the boy from Bologna who committed suicide on TikTok
Matteo Plicchi, father of the 23-year-old who committed suicide live on TikTok, has broken his silence. It would seem that his son had been a victim of cyberbullying for some time.
Tiktoker commits suicide live: his father’s words
“They hammered a sensitive boy. Defaming him with accusations of pedophilia and abuse, only to increase their visibility on social media. They pushed him to commit suicide,” he revealed during an interview with Corriere della Sera. The Bologna Prosecutor’s Office is continuing to investigate the matter. It would appear, however, that two Turkish YouTubers have accused the 23-year-old unfairly. The TikToker, with almost 200 thousand followers, was immediately inundated with hateful comments. “I had seen it as a bit strange, but I couldn’t imagine” continued the father. “After his death I wanted to understand and so I opened a profile too and contacted some of those who had accused him. Do you think that some Italian influencers explained to me that they were forced to participate in the social pillory so as not to lose followers. They killed one of their peers just for visibility.”
Vincent Plicchi, alias @inquisitor3, would have started receiving comments and insults, after the accusations made by a 17-year-old girl, known in the Call of Duty fandom. Based on reconstructions, the young woman had declared that she was an adult. The two then began exchanging messages. Those same chats were sent by her to other members of the community, who would in turn spread them, accusing Plicchi of pedophilia. The young man was overwhelmed by heavy insults, which he was unable to bear
The tragic live broadcast
On the evening of Tuesday 10 October, Inquisitor ghost decided to express all his pain with one last extreme gesture. He hanged himself live on TikTok, in front of all his followers. In those moments the police received numerous phone calls asking to save him, but there was nothing they could do. He was found by his father in his room in Bologna. “There are even people who are apologizing now and have basically admitted what they did. I will certainly do my best to ensure that cyberbullying is talked about, I will contact some associations. With his friends we want to raise funds, because the kids must be helped, it must never happen again” the man said in the interview.
