According to preliminary statistics, more than 1,000 Chinese citizens have left Israel for home or a third country since the outbreak of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict,Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Mao Ning confirmed Friday.
Mao said since the outbreak of the conflict on October 7, more than 280 Chinese citizens had been trapped in the southern Israeli city of Sderot.
“The Foreign Ministry instructed the Chinese Embassy in Israel to act quickly and make every effort to organize the evacuation of the trapped people,” said Mao. “Currently, all the trapped people, under the joint efforts at home and abroad, have been evacuated, and some have taken commercial flights to return home.”
“We will continue to do our best to provide assistance to Chinese citizens,” Mao added.
