ASCOLI – The 35-year-old from Acquasanta Terme is accused of vehicular homicide who, in September last year, was driving his car in an evident state of intoxication when he lost control of the car along the Bonifica and crashed in the Ancarano area , against a car parked on the side of the road in which there was a woman who died of her injuries a few months later.

In recent days the Teramo Prosecutor’s Office notified the suspect of the conclusion of the investigations into what happened that night.

Following the investigative activity carried out following the accident, according to the investigators, the young man, who was also burdened with the aggravating circumstance of having driven his car despite having a suspended license, had driven while intoxicated. , since he was revealed to have a blood alcohol level above 0.70 and therefore well above the legal limit.

He was traveling along the Bonifica provincial road when, having reached the Ancarano area, the thirty-five year old lost control of the vehicle and crashed into another vehicle which was parked on the pavement, in front of a factory. Following the violent impact, the vehicle with a woman inside crashed into the fence of the industrial warehouse.

Her condition immediately appeared serious: she was transported to the Teramo hospital where she arrived in a comatose state, she was diagnosed with a cerebral hemorrhage and the fracture of some vertebrae resulting in quadriplegia. Over the months, her clinical condition worsened further, leading to her death last April.

More than a year later, the Teramo Public Prosecutor’s Office concluded its investigation by assuming that the Acquasanta man had committed the crime of vehicular homicide aggravated by the fact that he had started driving despite his license having previously been withdrawn. The suspect, defended by the lawyer Umberto Gramenzi, now risks a sentence that could be between eight and twelve years in prison.
