The owner, unaware of everything, explained to the military that in recent months the animal had had gingivitis which led it to bite various objects; the woman will now have to compensate for the damage caused

In Vastogirardi, a town of 600 souls located in the province of Isernia in Molise, for months the inhabitants found their cars damaged, with tires punctured by unknown persons. The carabinieri, despite the stakeouts, had not managed to identify those responsible. The investigations had overlooked nothing from disagreements between residents to intimidation, revenge and retaliation, but no one was able to get to the bottom of it. In the end, thanks to the installation of some cameras, the unexpected discovery! A dog, Billy, suffering from gingivitis, was captured on video attacking tires.

The first investigations
The first report of damage dates back to the second half of last July for a car left parked. At the end of October, another four incidents of punctured tires on cars left parked in the same area were reported: from the new investigations, this time more in-depth also due to the fear of intimidation, however, once again, nothing emerged. At that point the Command of the Carabinieri Company of Agnone organizes surveillance services with personnel in civilian clothes, but no other episodes occur and it is not possible to collect useful elements to identify the perpetrator of the damage.

The videos from the cameras
The intervention of the Investigative Unit of the Carabinieri of Isernia turns out to be providential and, in support of Agnone’s colleagues, installs some cameras that frame the affected square, discovering, after a few days, the serial perpetrator of the damage: it is “Billy”, the large dog of one of the victims of the damage. The owner of the animal, unaware of its nocturnal raids, explained to the military that in recent months the dog had had gingivitis which led it to bite various objects; the woman will now have to compensate for the damage caused by ‘Billy’ and prevent the damage from happening again.
