A man came across a traffic police check near an A22 toll booth while speeding at full speed. He tried to convince the agents with one story after another, until his castle of lies collapsed. Now he’s up to his neck in trouble
He was traveling in the car at full speed and he told the policemen who stopped him that he was rushing to the hospital because his son was ill. But none of it was true: it was all a fabrication to hide the fact that he was driving without ever having had a license. For him, now, they are pain.
It all happened on the night between Tuesday 21st and Wednesday 22nd November in Chiusa, near the A22 toll booth, with the Bressanone Polstrada stopping an Italian who was traveling at high speed, with the whole family on board. When asked the reason for his heavy foot on the accelerator, the man said that he had left the house in a hurry to go to hospital, as his young son was ill.
Faced with such an explanation, the police became alarmed and suggested calling an ambulance. A father worried about his son would have willingly accepted, but he didn’t. Indeed, he changed his story, saying that he had already been to the hospital in Bolzano and that he could not show his driving license as he had forgotten it at home, then inviting the police to follow him to his home to carry out the necessary checks.
No sooner said than done. The man’s wife started driving and the family car, followed by the police car, arrived at its destination, with their young son (who was fine) who slept throughout the incident. At home, the man tried to make the officers believe he couldn’t find his license, only to then spill the beans: he never got the license and the car belongs to the company he’s been working for for a few years.
The sanction was exemplary: a 5,100 euro fine, administrative detention of the vehicle for 3 months and also a fine for the owner of the company for carelessly entrusting the vehicle.
