The Serbian champion unleashed against WADA in a press conference: “Scandalous, there are limits”

Great controversy from Novak Djokovic for a surprise doping test before the Davis Cup match against Norrie in Malaga. The Serbian champion was furious at the press conference, speaking of the scandalous management of WADA (the World Anti-Doping Agency) which asked him for a test with little notice. Djokovic then expressed his disappointment, declaring: “I haven’t had a full doping test yet, they still have to take blood. There is a man who is now sitting in a corner who follows me for hours. I had an argument with him because in my twenty-year career it hadn’t happened to me before. I received a notification an hour and a half before the match. I have my routine and I don’t need to be distracted. I can’t think about the blood draw or whether I’ll be able to donate a urine sample. Theirs is a completely illogical decision.”

Djokovic then added: “They told me that one of the reasons for the check was to give us more time to rest, but there was a day off. Furthermore, the anti-doping agency agents don’t stay until late now. I am in favor of tests, if it is necessary I will do it even a hundred times, it is not a problem, but not before the match. When I finish, come and let’s do the test. I have not seen any reason or logic. Now I will give blood, but I hope they change these decisions. It’s a shame what they did.” Finally, the Serbian tennis player took a dig at WADA: “It is also peculiar that WADA is a private company, we should discuss whether we should have our own agency within the tennis ecosystem and not hire someone from outside. This is scandalous, there are limits, they act like they don’t understand anything about what’s going on here.”
