Awurade Basa ruled the Akan with Afenakwa sword. When Denkyira wanted to fight the Adansi states, they made a parallel sword called Sasatia to compete with that of the Adansi Afenakwa sword. Afterwards, when the Denkyira defeated the Adansi states, they made the Abankwaadwa called the “beads stool” as the insignia of authority in their empire.

That was the genesis of shifting from the sword to the stool form of inheritance. When Asante wanted to defeat Denkyira and they consulted Okomfo Anokye, he advised that a greater stool should be made to surpass that of Denkyira Abankwaadwa. This episode gave birth to the mysterious “Sikadwa Kofi” the golden stool of Asante on a festive Friday called “Fofie” to toppled and head all stools among stools.
