History about ‘Ohenenana Boakye Dankwa Kantinkyiren’ the biological father of Otumfour Osei Tutu ll

Nana Boakye Dankwa is/was an Ɔhenena meaning a paternal grandson of an Asantehene. His name “Boakye” implies a probability that he descends paternally from Asantehene Kwaku Dua Panin who gave his sons his additional Ntoro affiliated name Boakye to nearly all his Sons. When his Wife became Asantehemaa Nana Afia Kobi Seiwaa Ampem, he was appointed “Brahyiahene”….

Kantinkyiren (closer to Adum Afrantwo) near Trɛdɛ, is known for harbouring a good number of Ahenenana of the Asantehene, particularly from the Sons of Otumfoɔ Ɔsɛe Yaw Akoto. One of Ɔsɛe Yaw’s paternal grandsons was called Kwabena Owusu of Kantinkyiren. He married Three important Asante Women:

1.  Ɛdwesohemaa Nana Yaa Asantewaa with whom she bore her only daughter. Her  name was Ama Seiwaa Brakatu. She became Edwesohemaa…

2.  He married Nana Adwoa Kromoo of the Otumfoɔ Butuakwa Kyeame Stool. One of their daughters was named Ama Seiwaa Ano. She was the maternal grandmother of Kyeame Baafoɔ Akoto.

3.  Ohenenana Kwabena Owusu married Nana Atiaa of the Botaase Royal Family of Manpɔn. Their daughter Ama Seiwaa Akoto became Manpɔnhemaa.

In the old days it was the Ahenema and Ahenenana who largely married the Adehyeɛ Maa. It was kept “All in the Family”, strategically.
