I know many were inspired by the first wife’s courageous decision to step down and allow the other woman to perform her husband’s widow duties and rites. But what can we expect when she wasn’t aware her husband had legally married another woman behind her back? It’s high time men learn valuable lessons from this experience. If you want to leave a legacy of love and respect when you’re gone, then prioritize your commitment to your wife. Cheating secretly should be enough; respect your vows, your values, and your wife. Akosua Serwaah made a powerful choice because she refused to be disrespected again. As a man, if you plan to have multiple wives, be transparent about it from the beginning, and let your partner decide if she’s willing to accept that arrangement. Let’s remember that the Bible teaches men to love their wives just as Christ loved the Church and gave his life for it. If you truly love your wife, you won’t put her through suffering and emotional trauma. The other woman may also disrespect her, but did your wife sign up for that? No, it’s because of your own desires. Let’s treat our youthful wives with kindness and respect, just as the Bible advises. A woman who supported you through thick and thin, who sponsored your first album, and was your rock when you were struggling deserves to be cherished. Let’s not forget that what goes around comes around. If I were the first wife, I wouldn’t mourn or perform widow rites for someone who didn’t prioritize our marriage. This is a powerful reminder to finish the course with integrity. Take heart, Akosua Serwaah.
