A vibrant ceremony is in full swing at the Manhyia Palace grounds in the Ghanaian city of Kumasi as the Ashanti kingdom gathers to bid farewell to their beloved queen mother, Nana Konadu Yiadom III, who died in August.

The Doteyie burial rites explode in a kaleidoscope of colour and tradition, honouring a royal legacy that spans generations.

Since Monday, the palace has been alive with ritual, music, and dance, celebrating the life and spirit of Nana Konadu in a four-day ceremony.

Thousands pay tribute to the revered Asantehemaa, whose role involves advising the Asantehene and preserving the kingdom’s rich heritage.
